Saturday and Friday August - Wood Oven Pizza Day, Theatre, Dancing all night long ;-) !!!!

Saturday, 15th August 2015

Ferragosto, an holyday of Italy.
Santa Maria is celebrated throughout all the country with the smell of burning flesh sizzeling on the infernal flames of barbecues.

Sausages, bacon, hamburgers and "spiedini" were the guests of honor during this savage feast.

After recovering from the harsh battle between stomachs and food, we took a well deseverd rest in our rooms, troubled by the raging storm and our dear Natia banging on the doors, trying to gather the sleeping cattle to the activity room where she held surprisingly interestings "trust games".

Spanish Dinner and Kaye birthday

No words, only music, dance and sangria (some beers too ;-))

Please don't it to the staff ...

Friday 14th August

This morning, when the villagers woke up the weather was dreary and rainy.

The day was offset as many slept in and missed breakfast.

The rain also caused the usual work activities to need to stay inside.

Some organized the newly donated and recycled baby clothes. This is project here that Libera has to aid community families.

Some continued painting the walls in the main hall, while others cleaned the windows and shutters. One group prepared for the night activity by cleaning up the event room.

Afterwards, we learned about the mafia group in Japan, Yakuza.

We learned about their tradtions and corrupt ways while playing the classic CISV game of "Yellow and Blue". This game involves trust and diplomacy so that teams can succeed or perish together.

A short break was then followed by the Turkish national presentation on it's corruption on Women's Abuse and Gender Inequality. These facts were shocking to many participants with descriptions of the brutality of violence againist women and honour killings.

Participants were proud though because Turkey is making effective steps to combat this issue. They hope for political change and growth within Turkey aswell.

At Dinner Finally PIZZA

The villagers enjoyed the delicious pizza from the stone oven on site with a cold beer keg.

Then they prepared for the people to come for the event!

The event hosted by Libera was enjoyed by community members with more pizza, wine, beer and a music performance and story called "The River Goes: A Journey in 1970s Italy".
This was a new and eye opening experience for CISVers to learn about the history of Italian music while enjoying and singing and dancing to the great music.

The night was not over when the community member left... CISV and Libera participants continued to dance and sing into the small hours of the night.
